Welcome from President James Herbert

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the University of New England. I encourage you to spend some time exploring our website and getting to know us better.

As you will see, É«ÏãÊÓƵ is a special place. On our three campuses — located on both sides of the North Atlantic — our students and faculty are driven by a deep commitment to improving the health of the world’s people, communities, and natural environment.

Within a nurturing, challenging environment, our students engage in high-quality research and scholarship, gain hands-on experiences in their intended fields, study abroad through our industry-leading global education program, and partake in a range of other learning experiences that show them just how hungry the world is for new leaders.

Ultimately, our students gain the knowledge and skills they need to lead fulfilling lives doing work that matters. They also gain an education that translates into professional success and continues to reap measurable benefits throughout their careers. More than 95 percent of our undergraduates find a job or continue higher education within one year of receiving their É«ÏãÊÓƵ degree. And the Brookings Institution identifies É«ÏãÊÓƵ as the top academic institution in the state of Maine for increasing students’ earning potential.

We take pride in what we do, and pride in who we are. I am glad you’re taking some time to learn more about our community and its mission, and I hope you will consider joining us in our important work.

Sincerely,

James D. Herbert, Ph.D.
President of the University of New England
